From racing to training, to ski equipment to art, Bruce is here to help you explore the world of Canadian Cross Country skiing.

Bruce Mitchell started Cross Country skiing in the early 1970’s and he has been involved in the sport’s evolution for over 50 years.  He is one of the founding members of the Overlander Ski Club (OSC) in Kamloops, B.C.  He taught and coached skiing with OSC in his spare time while working as a school teacher and administrator.  After retiring from the school system he worked as a CANSI (Canadian Alliance of Nordic Ski Instructors) course conductor, and as a ski instructor at the Sun Peaks Resort Ski School for 10 years.  He also provided regular training sessions for Nordic instructors there, and, with his wife, Ingrid, coached with the Glenn Bond  High Performance Cross Country Ski Camps.

Bruce has been a long time participant in a variety of endurance sports including Cross Country skiing, road and trail running, triathlon, open water swimming, outrigger and marathon canoe racing, and mountain biking.  He has competed at the National level in outrigger canoeing, triathlon, and at the Masters World Cup level in Nordic skiing.  He is a Level 3 CANSI instructor, Level 2 Alpine Ski Instructor, and has also been qualified as a Cross Country Ski coach through CCBC.

The techniques, methods, and drills presented in this book are greatly influenced and enhanced by Bruce’s involvement with CANSI, but they are presented with this author’s interpretation, and editorial license.
